Course information

This is a 4-day course for Post-qualified counsellors who wish to begin working with young people (aged 11-18), or current counselling students on adult-focused counselling/psychotherapy training courses who wish to undertake some of their placement hours with young people.

The course material is mapped to stage one of the BACP training curriculum – a pre-requisite for beginning clinical work with young people – and allows therapists to build their own port-folio of learning to evidence their competence.

Delegates will be required to submit one small independent assignment within four months following completion of the course. Each student will also compile a portfolio, with the evidence to be contained in the portfolio being part of the course itself and/or use of the MindEd programme, which delegates may view in their own time.

This programme is suitable for people who are currently on or who have completed an adult counselling diploma. Eg Counsellors or counsellors in training with the expectation of counselling children and young people.
