Foundations in Pastoral Care

Foundations in Pastoral Care

A 6-week online course that supports the development of firm foundations for the practical provision of pastoral care with others.

Who is encouraged to join this course?

We welcome individuals who are new to pastoral care and those with prior experience who wish to affirm their own understanding of this ministry or have not had the opportunity to attend a pastoral care training course before.

What will the course be like?

The course is led by experienced ACC trainers who will guide you through interactive teaching and facilitate activities that give practical experience of core pastoral care skills. This will give a safe space to share experiences, be inspired by others and grow in your God-given ministry, supported by scripture, prayer and personal reflection.

What topics will be covered?

The course explores topics including:

  • the breadth of pastoral care
  • what makes a good pastoral carer
  • the complexities of pastoral care
  • effective listening to others
  • wellbeing in pastoral care (including caring for ourselves and boundaries)
  • practising safely (including confidentiality and reflecting on our actions).

A workbook will accompany the course and a certificate of attendance will be available after attending all sessions.
