“I know you’re a counsellor. Any chance you can have a word with my grandson. I’m really worried about him.”
How do you respond to requests like this? It’s especially challenging when you are also in a dual relationship within a church. You might be in a homegroup or involved in the church youth group as a leader there. You may be on the leadership team or have other information about the situation which you cannot share with the person who is contacting you.
The Children & Young People Development Group at ACC are hosting this forum where members can drop in and share their dilemmas. You may not have a particular issue going on for you but may still want to come along and share your experiences in similar situations to those brought to the group. You don’t have to be a specific children and young people’s counsellor to attend.
