Developed by SQA and underpinned by the BACP & ACC ethical framework, this course’s aim is to equip students with the skills to successfully work in the counselling field. We teach not only the current theories and concepts used within the counselling field, but we also facilitate experiential learning. The course runs on a part-time basis, one day a week.

The BSc (Hons) Integrative Counselling, at Spurgeon’s College, teaches a relational integrative approach to counselling. Its aim is to establish and build upon students’ prior active listening and helping skills and experience by developing the theoretical, professional and subjective skills that are necessary to counsel others. The programme offers a pathway into becoming a qualified counsellor as recognised by the main professional membership bodies in the UK.
The BSc (Hons) Integrative Counselling, is a carefully designed undergraduate degree programme, benchmarked against national standards, which will provide students with the professional knowledge and skills to work professionally as a Counsellor, should they choose to pursue this after graduation. This programme is open to applicants from a Christian and non-Christian background. It is a professional course in a Christian setting, that offers both a distinctly Christian element (optional) and a general spiritual / transpersonal element woven through the course.
The diploma offers training in a variety of recognised counselling models, as well as skills development, understanding the professional and ethical frameworks for counselling and gives graduates the opportunity to progress towards becoming competent professional counsellors within both the Christian community and wider world.
P/T 2 year course held every Tuesday evening 18:15-22:15 plus one Saturday each month 09:00-17:00 during term-time (Northamptonshire Term-times)
This Diploma programme offers training in an integrative approach to counselling, embracing the concepts of Person-Centred Counselling, Psychodynamic Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Existential Psychotherapy from a Christian perspective.
The Certificate in Counselling Skills & Theory (Level 3) is a tailor-made course, accredited by CPCAB. It offers an introduction to counselling, underpinned by a Christian worldview — providing a unique opportunity to study a professionally recognised course from an integrative Christian perspective.
This foundational counselling training is the first part of our CPCAB accredited psychotherapeutic training programme, offering students an introduction to a number of current treatment methods available, teaches the core counselling skills needed to support others sensitively and ethically, and provides an overview to some of the psychological issues commonly encountered when counselling (E.g. loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse and eating disorders).
