This two-session course is designed to equip pastoral carers to support their own holistic wellbeing. Supporting wellbeing is essential for pastoral carers as it protects carers from overload, compassion fatigue and burnout. As such, it also supports the ministry of pastoral care to be safe and sustainable for both the pastoral carer and those being cared for.

Who is encouraged to join?

This course is aimed at pastoral carers and pastoral team leaders in any ministry context.

  • Good practice in pastoral care
  • Jesus’ practice
  • Challenges of self-care
  • Biblical models of self-care
  • Reflective practice models

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered online via Zoom. The sessions involve teaching, PowerPoint presentation, discussion in breakout rooms and time for individual self-reflection. A workbook is provided for individual notes.
